Product Description
When a piece of equipment needs more than power - feedback signals, interlocks, sensor lines and control wires running side by side - a 2- or 5-way connector runs out of positions quickly. The MS3106A16S-1P to MS3106A16S-1S cable assembly answers this with the 16S-1 insert arrangement: 7 × size 16 contacts rated at 13 A each, one of the most widely used multi-circuit layouts in the MIL-DTL-5015 (MIL-C-5015) family.
The assembly is terminated with an MS3106A16S-1P straight plug (7 pin contacts) on one end and an MS3106A16S-1S straight plug (7 socket contacts) on the other. Used between two MS3100 / MS3102 panel receptacles with the 16S-1 insert, it forms a plug-and-play interconnection or extension link - wired, tested and ready to install out of the box.
Both connectors use the "A" class solid one-piece aluminum shell with threaded coupling and single key/keyway polarization. Once tightened, the coupling ring will not back off under vibration, which is why this interface has remained a fixture in motor control, generator, machine tool and defense wiring for decades.

Q: How many wires does this cable carry?
A: Seven. The 16S-1 insert provides 7 × size 16 contacts (positions A through G), each rated at 13 A, so one cable can combine power, control and signal circuits.
Q: What is the difference between shell size 16S and 14S?
A: 16S is one step larger, which allows higher contact counts such as the 7-way 16S-1 insert. Both use the same size 16 contacts and threaded coupling, but shells of different sizes do not mate.
Q: Can you supply this with a receptacle or 90° angle plug instead?
A: Yes. We build MS3100 / MS3102 (receptacle) and MS3108 (90° angle) versions with the same 16S-1 insert, as well as single-ended pigtails, per your drawing or sample.
