Why Choose a 1-to-2 Automotive Ethernet Breakout Cable ?
A conventional extension cable generally connects two interfaces, whereas PCM-XY-0006 is designed around a dual-port main interface and two separate branches. For equipment that already uses a dual-port connector and requires two connections to be routed independently, a pre-assembled breakout harness provides a more clearly defined interface and branch arrangement.
Compared with on-site cable cutting, crimping, and assembly, a pre-assembled harness can also be managed against standardized connector models, cable lengths, pin assignments, and inspection requirements. However, this convenience does not mean that every dual-port device can connect two network nodes through a passive breakout cable. Engineering review must confirm the electrical definition of both ports and whether the target network topology permits this arrangement.

Product Features
- Dual-Port Main Interface
PCM-XY-0006 uses an Aptiv 35191784 dual-port connector at the main end, organizing two interface groups within one connector assembly. For automotive electronic equipment with a compatible dual-port interface, this arrangement can reduce the need to install two separate connectors at the main end, depending on the equipment design.
- Two Single-Port Branches
The main connector branches into two Aptiv 35191760 single-port female connectors, allowing the two connection points to be routed separately to target devices or harness locations.
- Individually Protected Branch Terminations
Four black double-wall heat-shrink tubes are used for the wrapping and protection design of cable ends. The protective structure at branch ends helps maintain a neat appearance at the wire harness ends.
Key Performance Advantages
◆ Centralized Main Interface for Simplified Harness Routing
Connecting two separate branches through one dual-port main connector can reduce the need for separate main-end interfaces. For projects with concentrated equipment interfaces and separately routed branches, this architecture helps organize harness paths and installation positions while potentially reducing additional connector or adapter requirements.
◆ Defined Branch Mapping for Easier System Debugging
The two contact groups at P1 are routed separately to P2 and P3, establishing a defined branch relationship according to the engineering drawing. During equipment development, bench testing, and troubleshooting, a clear wiring schedule helps engineers identify individual branches and reduces configuration confusion.
◆ Multiple Length Options for Different Installation Distances
The 0.5 m, 1 m, and 2 m standard lengths provide options for different device distances and routing paths. Selecting the appropriate length in advance helps reduce excess cable, improve installation organization, and simplify procurement and material management.
Product FAQ
Is an Automotive Ethernet Breakout Cable Equivalent to a Network Switch ?
No. PCM-XY-0006 is a passive harness manufactured according to a defined pin mapping. It establishes physical connections between the main connector and two branch connectors but does not perform active Ethernet switching, packet forwarding, or traffic management.
Two ports in an automotive Ethernet system may belong to separate communication channels or require independent link connections. Whether a breakout harness can be used depends on the internal port design, network topology, and applicable protocol requirements. If active data forwarding or switching is required, an appropriate network switch must be used instead of a passive breakout cable.
Why Must the Two Pin Groups in a Dual-Port Connector Be Identified Separately ?
A dual-port connector may integrate two separate interfaces within one housing. Its contact numbering therefore identifies not only terminal positions but also how each signal group is routed. In the PCM-XY-0006 drawing, P1 Pin 1 and Pin 2 are assigned to P2, while P1 Pin 3 and Pin 4 are assigned to P3.
Before production, verify the drawing orientation, terminal numbering, and wiring relationships against the official connector documentation. Mixing the two pin groups may cause communication failures or violate equipment electrical requirements even when the connectors mate mechanically.
Can Both Branches Be Connected to Two ECUs Simultaneously ?
First verify the electrical definitions of the two main-end port groups and the target ECUs' network topology. If the contact groups correspond to independent communication channels and the system design permits the connection arrangement, sample validation can follow. The presence of two branch connectors does not mean that one Ethernet port can automatically serve two ECUs.
Can Premier Cable Provide a Customized Volume-Supply Solution for PCM-XY-0006 ?
OEM customization and volume supply can be evaluated according to project requirements, including standard length selection, special length requests, wiring assignments, and inspection criteria. Available configurations, minimum order quantities, lead times, and testing requirements should be confirmed during technical review and quotation.
