Detailed Product Description

PCM-ZC-0218 H-MTD to Waterproof MATEnet automotive Ethernet cable

The PCM-ZC-0218 H-MTD to MATEnet automotive Ethernet cable assembly is a passive high-speed differential cable assembly designed for automotive data connectivity, ECU development, ADAS, domain controllers, vehicle networking, and HIL validation environments.

Product Description

Connector A uses the Rosenberger E6K10A-1CAZ5-Z H-MTD Z-Code Jack Female. Rosenberger identifies E6K10A-1CAZ5-Z as an H-MTD straight jack with housing featuring Z coding in water blue for automotive applications.

Connector B uses the TE Connectivity 1802105-1 MATEnet A-Code sealed connector. TE specifies this component as a MATEnet A-Code, sealable cable-to-board/cable-to-cable housing with 180° cable exit, 100Ω impedance, and a housing configuration for female terminals.

The assembly uses GG 2Speed 251 high-speed differential cable. According to the PCM-ZC-0218 engineering drawing, the complete cable assembly is designed for 100Ω nominal impedance, DC–10GHz, 500VRMS minimum, and 100% continuity testing, with 110N minimum cable retention and a specified temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.

Its primary function is to provide physical interconnection and cable-interface adaptation between H-MTD and MATEnet automotive data interfaces.

Product Features

01

H-MTD to MATEnet Interface Adaptation

Rosenberger H-MTD Z-Code on one end and TE MATEnet A-Code on the other provide direct cable-level physical adaptation between two automotive high-speed connectivity systems, reducing unnecessary intermediate connection points.

02

100Ω Differential Transmission Architecture

The cable assembly is designed around a 100Ω nominal differential architecture to help maintain impedance continuity through automotive high-speed data links. TE also specifies the 1802105-1 connector at 100Ω.

03

Sealed MATEnet Interface

The 1802105-1 uses a sealable A-Code architecture suitable for automotive harness designs requiring enhanced environmental protection around the connection area. The final IP rating should still be determined from validation of the complete assembly.

04

2m and 5m Standard Lengths

The drawing provides 2000±20mm and 5000±30mm standard configurations for ECU interconnection, laboratory testing, vehicle prototyping, and different equipment layouts.

Core Application Scenarios

11 1

ADAS & Autonomous Driving

Suitable for high-speed differential connections involving ADAS ECUs, sensor networks, central computing platforms, and autonomous-driving development systems. Rosenberger also identifies ADAS and autonomous driving as H-MTD applications.

33 1

Automotive Ethernet ECU

Suitable for cable connections among ECUs, gateways, zonal controllers, and other vehicle-network nodes equipped with H-MTD and MATEnet interfaces.

44 1

HIL与ECU Bench Testing

In ECU development, HIL benches, and laboratory validation, the cable provides an H-MTD-to-MATEnet physical interface path while reducing additional adapters in the test setup.

Automotive Camera & High-Speed Data Systems

Suitable for connectivity development involving camera ECUs, display systems, and other automotive high-speed data devices. Rosenberger lists 4K-and-higher camera systems and high-resolution displays among H-MTD applications.

Core Performance Advantages

◆    Improved Impedance Continuity

A connector, cable, and termination architecture built around a 100Ω differential link makes impedance transitions easier to manage than configurations using multiple generic adapters.

◆    Optimized for Engineering Validation

The 2m and 5m configurations cover different vehicle, bench, and laboratory distances, making the same H-MTD to MATEnet cable architecture easier to deploy across prototypes, ECU benches, and HIL validation.

◆    Exact P/N Definition Reduces Selection Risk

Specifying E6K10A-1CAZ5-Z and 1802105-1 instead of describing the product simply as "H-MTD to MATEnet" helps purchasing and engineering teams verify gender, coding, mating interfaces, and equipment-side connectors.

◆ Fewer Intermediate Interface Stages

Direct H-MTD-to-MATEnet connectivity can reduce multi-stage arrangements involving adapters and intermediate cables, simplifying vehicle prototypes, test benches, and ECU connectivity architectures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an Automotive Ethernet cable ?

It can be used in Automotive Ethernet applications when the interface, pinout, PHY, and complete link requirements are compatible. Rosenberger lists 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 for H-MTD, while TE positions MATEnet as an automotive data-connectivity system.

Does H-MTD to MATEnet require protocol conversion ?

The cable itself performs no protocol conversion; it is a passive cable assembly. Communication depends on the PHY, pin mapping, protocol, and complete link architecture of the connected devices.

Can the cable length be customized ?

Yes. The current drawing includes 2m and 5m versions, while other lengths can be developed according to ECU, domain-controller, or test-equipment placement. Signal integrity and link budget should be revalidated when cable length changes.

Can H-MTD Z-Code be directly replaced by another coding ?

No direct interchange should be assumed. Coding provides mechanical keying and should be selected according to the actual equipment-side P/N and mating interface rather than connector appearance alone.

Can MATEnet A-Code be changed to another coding ?

Different versions can be developed, but the destination MATEnet header, coding, and exact P/N must be verified together. TE's MATEnet portfolio includes A/B/C coding variants, so housing color alone should not be used to determine compatibility.
