Premier Cable PCM-XY-0003 is a custom wiring harness developed for automotive Ethernet interconnection projects. One end of the product uses an Amphenol NETBridge Jack A-Code connector, part number: NTHCF0B6A11S, while the other end uses a TE Connectivity MATEnet Jack Z-Code connector, part number: 2302510-9. In between, it employs automotive-grade STP Ethernet cable with multiple independent auxiliary conductors.

The primary purpose of this product is to establish pre-configured connections for automotive electronic devices equipped with corresponding matching interfaces. In addition to the two main data lines, the harness also includes independent 20 AWG auxiliary wires. PCM-XY-0003 is suitable for applications such as automotive electronic system development, controller interconnection, Ethernet communication link integration, and engineering testing.

Product Overview

PCM-XY-0003 is an automotive Ethernet cable assembly that integrates Amphenol NETBridge A-Code interfaces, TE MATEnet Z-Code interfaces, shielded twisted pair  STP  cables, and independent auxiliary conductors. It aims to provide a cross-interface wired connection solution for ECUs, gateways, and communication modules that meet requirements for interfaces, electrical characteristics, and pin definitions.

Addressing issues such as diverse connector types, complex auxiliary wiring configurations, and stringent harness assembly management in automotive electronic systems, this product enables engineers to clearly define wiring connections and implement standardized management. This simplifies harness design, procurement coordination, and production assembly processes, providing a consistent technical basis for prototype validation and mass production.

Key Performance Advantages

3 1
  • Defined Primary Data-Pin Mapping

This product's P1 Pin 1 corresponds to P2 Pin 1, and P1 Pin 2 corresponds to P2 Pin 2, with both ends' shells connected to shielded grounding. A clear pinout table helps reduce debugging efforts caused by inconsistent interface definitions.

  • Supports Cable-Length Tolerance Control

2000±30 mm provides a clear benchmark for wire harness layout, assembly space assessment, and incoming inspection, reducing communication costs caused by inconsistent length definitions.

  • Defines an Environmental Design Boundary

The operating temperature range of the components is from -40°C to +105°C, allowing project personnel to verify the target working environment during the design phase. The overall applicability of the components still needs to be confirmed in conjunction with connectors, cables, and actual installation conditions.

Product Knowledge

★   Why Does Automotive Ethernet Connector Coding Matter?

NETBridge A-Code and MATEnet Z-Code belong to different connector families and coding systems. Coding is more than a product-name detail; it relates to mechanical mating and interface configuration. Connector selection should consider the family, complete part number, mating structure, and pin assignment rather than relying on color or appearance alone.

★   Why Is a Nominal 100-Ohm Impedance Important for Automotive Ethernet ?

Automotive Ethernet uses differential signaling, and impedance discontinuities along the link can cause reflections and affect signal integrity. A nominal 100-ohm impedance is therefore an important design parameter, but this value alone does not prove that the complete assembly meets the requirements of a particular Ethernet data rate.

Product FAQ

Does PCM-XY-0003 Convert Ethernet Signals Between Different Connector Systems ?

The connector combination alone does not indicate protocol-conversion capability. PCM-XY-0003 provides a physical interconnection between Amphenol NETBridge A-Code and TE MATEnet Z-Code interfaces. Both devices must support compatible communication protocols, electrical characteristics, and pin assignments. Conversion between different protocols requires an appropriate active converter or additional system design.

Can PCM-XY-0003 Be Used as a Replacement for an Existing Automotive Ethernet Harness ?

It can be evaluated as a replacement, but interchangeability should not be determined solely by connector appearance or color. Compare the original harness with PCM-XY-0003 in terms of complete connector part numbers, pin mapping, cable specification, length, shield termination, and required communication performance. Appropriate electrical, mechanical, and system-level validation should follow any replacement.

Can PCM-XY-0003 Be Manufactured in Different Cable Lengths ?

Custom cable lengths can be evaluated according to project requirements. Length selection should account for the actual distance between devices, routing paths, connector exit clearance, and harness fixing points. For automotive Ethernet applications, the effect of cable-length changes on the complete communication channel should also be evaluated, followed by appropriate validation of the finalized assembly.

What Should Be Checked When Installing the Cable in a Compact ECU Enclosure ?

Check connector mating and unmating clearance, cable exit direction, minimum bend radius, clearance from enclosure edges, and potential compression caused by harness supports. Avoid twisting the connectors or applying sustained lateral loads during installation. For space-constrained designs, perform a physical routing assessment during prototyping to ensure the harness does not interfere with adjacent components.
