Hirose GT17HN A Key to USB 2.0 Type A Male Cable

PCM-ZC-0226 connects an automotive infotainment module to a bench computer or test controller through a USB 2.0 Type A male plug. The module end uses a Hirose GT17HN connector with four contacts arranged in two rows. A brown A Key insert sets the mating profile, and a latch on the dark gray housing holds the connector in place once seated.

The shielded cable carries USB data, power and ground to the same numbered contacts at the Hirose end. It can be used to check whether a compatible module is detected by the host and communicates over USB. Before connecting the module, confirm that it has a mating GT17HN A Key port and that its USB signal assignments match the wiring table below.

Connector Details and Bench Setup

1 1

Four Contacts in Two Rows

Viewed from the mating face, the GT17HN connector has pins 1 and 2 in the upper row and pins 3 and 4 in the lower row when oriented as shown in the drawing. This layout gives technicians a quick way to identify the correct lead on a bench that also uses single row Hirose GT17H cables. If a module parts list describes the interface only as a four position Hirose port, check the mating connector part number and face view before ordering.

The A Key Is in the Brown Insert

The dark gray GT17HNS-4DS-HU is the outer housing, listed as the shell on the PCM drawing. The brown GT17HN-4DS-2C(A) is the insulation case that defines the A Key mating profile. Include both numbers when specifying the cable. The housing number identifies the outer component, while the insert number tells purchasing and inspection teams which key to check. www.hirose.com

Separate Paths for USB Ground and the Shield

One 26AWG pair carries D− and D+, while two 24AWG conductors carry VCC and GND. The assembly drawing also shows continuity between the metal shells. When preparing a test fixture, check the four numbered contact paths and the shell path separately. If the host fails to detect the module, the wiring table gives technicians a reference for checking the data pair and power connections before investigating the module itself.

An Accessible USB Plug for Repeated Tests

The molded USB Type A plug gives operators a connection point at the host while the Hirose end stays latched into the module. That arrangement is practical when the module is mounted under a fixture cover and the host connection is the one operators handle between tests. Before fixing the cable route, check that operators can grip the USB plug and reach the Hirose latch when the module needs to be removed. Leave room behind the sleeved cable exit for the first bend.

Product FAQ

Which Hirose port mates with this cable ?
Use a port that accepts the dual row Hirose GT17HN A Key profile. Confirm the mating part number on the module and check its USB signal assignments against the wiring table.

Can I connect the USB end directly to a computer ?
Yes. The USB Type A male plug fits a Type A host receptacle. The module at the Hirose end must support USB device operation and match the cable pinout.

Does the cable carry both USB power and data ?
Yes. Pin 1 carries VCC and pin 4 carries GND. Pins 2 and 3 carry the USB data pair. Available current depends on the host port and the connected module.

What does 480MHz mean in the specifications ?
It is the frequency value listed on the assembly drawing. Confirm the supported USB data rate with the intended host and module connected.

What should I include in a sample or quotation request ?
Reference drawing PCM-ZC-0226 and include the estimated quantity. For a variant, add the mating connector part number, the required pin assignment and the target cable length.
