Specifying an A Key Link Between Modules

Put the A Key Shell on the Harness Drawing
If the equipment documentation lists GT32-4DS-1.5C, check the shell callout as well. The PCM drawing uses that number for the connector inside each end and identifies the brown A Key shell separately as GT32-4DS-HU(A). That distinction matters when a harness program uses several Hirose GT32 variants. Listing the full shell number at both ends gives buyers a clear part to order and inspectors a specific feature to verify. The brown color is a quick visual cue when sorting samples. The mating profile is what determines fit.
Read Both Module Pin Tables Side by Side
The cable carries each numbered contact straight through. If one module places a signal on pin 2, the receiving module must expect that signal on pin 2 for this wiring to work. This is worth checking when a test setup brings together modules from different hardware revisions. Compare the pin tables using the mating face views, since a view from the rear can reverse the apparent position of the contacts. The drawing also shows a separate path between the metal shells, which can be checked independently during continuity inspection.

Check the Route With the Trim in Place
Measure the path the cable will take around brackets, along clips and into the two ports. The controlled span is 2000mm ± 20mm between the reference points shown on the drawing. Each connector has a separate body reference dimension, and a 20mm black sleeve covers each cable exit. Account for those features when placing the first routing clips. In a console prototype, fit the nearby trim before checking whether a technician can reach the release tabs and withdraw either connector without pulling on the cable.
Review the Cable as Part of the Data Link
Drawing PCM-ZC-0258 identifies DACAR 535 and specifies 100Ω nominal impedance and a frequency range from DC to 2GHz. If a project changes the cable length or proposes a different cable material, keep those electrical requirements in the review alongside the mating connector and pin assignment. Evaluate the link with the intended modules connected. The frequency range describes the assembly specification, while protocol compatibility and data rate depend on the complete path through the cable, mating connectors and module electronics.

Automotive Applications
Infotainment module integration
Connect a head unit and a remote infotainment module when both equipment ports accept Hirose GT32 A Key and their signal assignments match.
Console and dashboard packaging trials
Route the cable through the intended module locations to check reach, clip placement and access to the latches before finalizing the harness layout.
Module validation benches
Position compatible modules at their intended spacing and check communication using the same connector key and wiring planned for the prototype.

Product FAQ
Which part number identifies the brown Hirose GT32 A Key shell ?
The shell is GT32-4DS-HU(A). Both ends use this shell with the GT32-4DS-1.5C connector listed on the PCM assembly drawing.
Does this cable have a USB Type A plug ?
Both ends are Hirose GT32 A Key. Here, A Key refers to the mechanical mating profile of the Hirose shell.
Can I connect the cable in either direction ?
Yes. Both ends use the same connector configuration, and all four contacts are wired straight through. Verify the signal assignment at both modules before connecting them.
Does the 2000mm dimension include both connector bodies ?
The drawing specifies 2000mm ± 20mm between the marked reference points near the cable exits. Check the separate connector dimensions when calculating the total installed space.
What should I send PCM for a quotation ?
For the configuration shown, send the drawing number PCM-ZC-0258 and your estimated quantity. For a variation, include the mating part number at each module, the target cable length and the required pin map.
