Hirose GT17HN B Key to USB 2.0 Type A Female Cable

PCM-ZC-0238 brings USB access out from behind an infotainment module. The Hirose GT17HN end latches into a mating B Key port, while the USB 2.0 Type A female receptacle can sit where an operator can reach it. This lets technicians swap USB peripherals at the receptacle while leaving the module connection seated.

The module end has four contacts arranged in two rows of two. Its green B Key insert is visible inside the dark gray housing, making the variant easy to identify at a test station. For peripheral testing, the connected module must act as the USB host, support the peripheral and use the wiring shown in the pinout below.

Check the Green Insert at the Mating Face

Start at the contact face when selecting a lead for a B Key module. The green insert has two contacts above two more and carries the B Key marking. The GT17HNS-4DS-HU shell identifies the dark gray outer housing, while the GT17HN-4DS-2C (B) connector callout identifies the keyed insert. If a fixture parts list records only the shell number, add the insert number so the purchasing team can distinguish this build from other GT17HN variants that use a similar housing.

Put the USB Receptacle Where Operators Can Reach It

The Type A female end accepts a male plug from a supported peripheral or test lead. In a fixture where the infotainment module sits behind a cover, route the receptacle to the side used for device changes. The molded body gives the operator a surface to hold while removing a plug. If the receptacle needs to stay in one position, use a separate holder around the inline body and leave enough room for the full length of the inserted plug.

Trace the USB Signals Before Changing the Setup

Each numbered contact connects to the same numbered position at the opposite end. The 26AWG pair carries D− and D+, and the two 24AWG conductors carry VCC and GND. The shield connects the metal shells separately from the pin 4 ground conductor. If a peripheral receives power but the module does not recognize it, the wiring table gives technicians a reference for checking the data pair and confirming the signal assignment at the module port.

Check Cable Reach With the Peripheral Plugged In

The 600±20mm dimension applies between the reference points shown on the drawing. Measure the route from the module to the proposed USB access point with the brackets and trim in place. Allow room for the receptacle body and the inserted peripheral at one end, and for the Hirose latch and sleeved cable exit at the other. On a console mockup, check that a flash drive can be removed without taking off trim or pulling on the module connection.
