Core Difference: Resistor Configuration and Applicable Protocol

Usually, a 120Ω resistor is connected in parallel between the data line pairs (such as pins 1-2) of the RJ45 interface, which complies with the DMX512-A standard and is suitable for single-channel (1 Universe) systems. For example, Doug Fleenor Design's T45 terminator is configured with a single resistor between pins 1-2, which is compatible with devices such as Color Kinetics and Martin.
Advantages: Simple structure, low cost, and meets the needs of conventional single-channel DMX control.
Limitations: Only supports a single protocol or device type, and compatibility is limited.
A 120Ω resistor is configured on each of the two data line pairs (such as pins 4-5 and 3-6), which is suitable for multi-channel (such as 2 Universe) systems or devices that need to be compatible with different wiring standards (such as supporting DMX512-A and special manufacturer protocols at the same time). For example, CPOINT's DMXterminator™120-2U is designed for dual channels and supports complex topologies.

Advantages: Reduce the risk of signal reflection, improve the stability of multi-device cascading, and have wider compatibility.
Typical scenarios: large-scale performances, smart buildings, and other scenarios that require multi-channel control.
