About terminal resistor

A terminal resistor is a resistor element used at the end of a data bus or communication network. Its main function is to prevent the signal from reflecting at the end of the bus, thereby ensuring the stability and integrity of data transmission. When a signal is transmitted in a cable, if the end is not properly terminated, the signal may be reflected back to the bus, causing interference, signal distortion or data loss. The terminal resistor effectively absorbs the signal and prevents reflections from occurring by matching the characteristic impedance of the system (usually 120 ohms or other specified values). It is widely used in serial communication networks (such as RS485, CAN bus, Profibus, etc.) and various industrial automation and control systems to ensure the reliability of data links.

1. M12 connector terminal resistor

Features: M12 connectors are often used in industrial automation, and are rugged, waterproof (IP67) and anti-interference.
Applications: Used in industrial networks and communication systems such as Profibus, CANbus, DeviceNet, and NMEA2000.

2. RJ45 connector terminal resistor

Features: RJ45 is a common Ethernet connector. RJ45 with terminal resistors is usually used in high-speed Ethernet and LAN systems to ensure the stability of data links.
Applications: Widely used in industrial Ethernet, network switches, routers and other equipment.

3. D-Sub (D-type connector) terminal resistor

Features: In addition to DB9, D-Sub also has DB15, DB25, DB37 and other types with different pin configurations, which are often used in communications and industrial control systems.
Applications: Used in serial communication, RS232, RS485, RS422 and other interface devices.

4. BNC connector terminal resistor

Features: BNC (Bayonet Neill–Concelman) is a common RF coaxial connector, and the terminal resistor is often used to match the characteristic impedance of the coaxial cable.
Application: Used for video signal transmission, RF applications, measuring instruments, antennas, and signal processing systems.

5.Mini DIN connector terminal resistor

Features: Mini DIN is often used for low-power signal devices and some special communication interfaces. Mini DIN connectors with terminal resistors are used to ensure signal stability.
Application: Used for some specific industrial communication networks or audio and video equipment.

6. USB terminal resistor

Features: USB interface devices also use terminal resistors in some high-speed data transmission applications to ensure signal integrity and correct electrical connections.
Applications: Computer interface, data transmission, charging equipment, peripheral connection, etc.

7. CAN connector terminal resistor

Features: Terminal resistors are often used in CAN bus systems, such as DB9, M12 or other custom connectors to ensure the stability of the bus end.
Applications: Automotive industry, industrial automation, embedded control systems, etc.
