Standard SIM card: The size (25mm×15mm) is designed only for direct insertion into the card slot of a mobile phone/camera. It has a high fit but is not easy to remove by hand (especially deep card slots).
Extended waterproof SIM card: The extended part (such as adding a handle or extending the FPC substrate) provides a gripping area to avoid difficulties in removing the card due to a deep card slot or a humid environment.
2. Protect FPC wires and prevent damage
FPC wire (flexible circuit) characteristics: high flexibility but weak pulling resistance. If a standard size SIM card is directly connected, the user may pull the wire due to improper force when removing the card, resulting in breakage or poor contact.
Extended design: By extending the SIM card body, ensure that the user holds the rigid part during operation instead of directly pulling the FPC line, thereby improving durability.
3. Waterproof and chassis installation adaptation
Application scenarios: Waterproof SIM cards are often installed in chassis such as industrial equipment and outdoor monitoring, and the card slot may be located in a narrow or confined space.
Advantages of extension:
Simplify the installation/maintenance process, no special tools are needed to remove the card.
Avoid damage to the internal structure of the equipment due to limited operating space.
