TS stands for Tip-Sleeve, which is a two-point plug. There are only two parts, one is the tip (transmitting audio signals) and the other is the sleeve (ground wire). It is generally used for mono audio, such as guitars or other musical instruments.

TRS stands for Tip-Ring-Sleeve, which is a three-point plug. It has an extra "ring" part compared to TS, and in addition to the tip and sleeve, the ring also transmits audio signals. Therefore, TRS plugs are usually used for stereo audio, or sometimes for balanced audio signals, like professional audio equipment or headphones.

Difference:
Number of contact points: TS has two contact points, TRS has three.
Use: TS is used for mono (one channel), TRS is used for stereo (two channels) or balanced signals.
