The terms HD-BNC and HD-SDI are often confused because they are both related to video signal transmission, but they have different meanings and uses. In simple terms, HD-BNC is a connector type, while HD-SDI is a video signal transmission standard.
HD-SDI stands for High-Definition Serial Digital Interface, a standard for transmitting high-definition digital video signals. It supports the transmission of high-definition (such as 1080p) digital video signals without compressing the video signals. The transmission distance can reach hundreds of meters to several kilometers.
HD-BNC stands for High-Definition BNC Connector, an upgraded version of the BNC connector with higher bandwidth, which can easily meet the needs of high-definition (HD) and ultra-high-definition (UHD) video. Traditional BNC connectors are mainly used for analog signal transmission, while HD-BNC connectors are specially designed for high-definition digital video signals (such as HD-SDI), providing higher transmission bandwidth, signal integrity and anti-interference.
