Hirose GT17HN A Key to USB 2.0 Type A Female Cable

PCM-ZC-0227 brings a USB Type A receptacle within reach when the Hirose GT17HN port sits behind a head unit, console trim or fixture cover. The dual row A Key connector latches at the module, leaving the molded USB female end accessible for a flash drive or a test lead with a Type A male plug.

The shielded cable carries USB data, power and ground between the receptacle and the module. In a peripheral test setup, the module behind the Hirose port must act as the USB host and support the device being tested. The wiring table below shows how the four USB signals reach the GT17HN contacts.

Change Peripherals at the Receptacle

During a series of USB device checks, the operator can swap peripherals at the Type A female end while the Hirose connection stays seated on the module. The molded receptacle gives the operator a surface to grip when inserting or removing a plug. For a station where the receptacle needs to stay in one position, a separate holder can support the inline body. Leave enough room in front for the USB plug and enough space behind the body for the cable to turn without a tight bend.

Use the Brown Insert to Identify A Key

The dark gray GT17HNS-4DS-HU shell is the outer housing. The brown GT17HN-4DS-2C(A) connector is the insulation case that defines the A Key mating profile. The four contacts form a square pattern, with two positions in each row. That face view is useful when a parts list describes the port only as a four position Hirose connector. For sample approval, compare the insert number and mating profile with the equipment drawing.

Check Which Device Acts as the USB Host

With a flash drive plugged into the female receptacle, the module behind the Hirose connector is responsible for USB host operation and device recognition. The cable routes VCC, D−, D+ and GND straight through by contact number. The shield connects the metal shells through a separate path. If a peripheral fails to appear during a test, compare the module pin assignment with the wiring table and confirm that the module supports the peripheral before changing the fixture wiring.

Check Plug Clearance With the Trim Fitted

The drawing controls the cable span at 600±20mm between the marked reference points. On a console mockup, check the route with the trim and module brackets installed. The USB end needs room for the inserted plug as well as the receptacle body. At the module end, check access to the Hirose release latch and allow room behind the 20mm sleeve before the cable turns. Those checks show whether the receptacle can be reached during testing and whether the module can still be removed for service.
