How to Select 7/8-16UN Cable Assemblies and Adapters
A 7/8-16UN connection is often used where a compact, threaded circular interface is needed for industrial power or defined machine-side wiring. Correct selection depends on the entire electrical and mechanical requirement, not only on the connector shell or thread. Before ordering, match the device-side interface, contact arrangement, wiring map, cable construction and operating conditions.
Extension Cables
Used to extend a defined device connection. Confirm male / female format, contact count, pin map, straight or angled construction, cable length and whether the cable carries power, control signals or a specified field connection.
Open-End & Pigtail Cables
Used where the connector is required at one end and the other end must be terminated inside a panel, junction box or equipment enclosure. Confirm conductor identification, strip length requirements and the terminal or cable-entry method used on site.
M12-to-7/8 Adapters
Used only when both connector families, the intended circuit and the pin-to-pin mapping are known. The adapter must reproduce the required wiring; it does not automatically make two devices electrically or protocol compatible.
Tee, Y & Distribution Assemblies

Can a 3-pin 7/8 cable replace a 4-pin or 5-pin cable?
No. Contact count, pin assignment and circuit function must match the equipment requirement. Similar shell size does not make different versions interchangeable.
Does an M12-to-7/8 adapter convert a network or communication protocol?
No. A passive adapter only provides the defined mechanical and electrical wiring arrangement. It does not add protocol conversion, switching, isolation or signal processing.
When should I choose a right-angle cable?
Use a right-angle format where rear clearance is limited or the cable needs to exit parallel to the equipment surface. Confirm the outlet direction and available bend radius before selection.
Can a tee or Y splitter increase available power?
